The Department has been assigned about 1,100 acres of land to support operations at the South Farms.

Farm Facilities — Statewide
- Dixon Springs Agricultural Center (DSAC)
- A 500 cow / calf operation is located at Simpson, Illinois; about 1,200 acres are available for pasture and production of hay.
- Orr Agricultural Research Center
- The Beef Research Unit at Orr Agricultural Center is located on 275 acres in Perry, Illinois. This facility was dedicated in April 1990 and supports a 100-head cow / calf operation.
